Free Standing Tubs - a Quick Review

Half of our tub calls on a daily basis are about freestanding tubs. This has been a trend over the past 5 years and the trend seems to be holding steady.  Buy why have freestanding baths become so popular over the past 5 years?  We can only speculate but we know this, clawfoot tubs have been popular for over 200 years.  More and more people like the idea of a freestanding tub, but just don't like the look of a clawfoot tub.

Not all freestanding bathtubs are built alike.  For example you can get them as a free standing soaker tub or a free standing air tub. For the air system you can get a remote blower location so you can hide the blower.  All freestanding air baths come with an auto purge system.  These keeps the lines clean so you don't have a build-up of bacteria.  Many options that come with the air system can also come with the freestanding soaker bath.  For example  LED chromatherapy lighting is available for both models.  Both models also can come in different designer styles including modern and traditional.

For a more traditional look you can include a pedestal base.  Pedestal Tubs like the Aquatic Serenity 13 have become popular.  They come in colors like white or biscuit as standard colors and you can customize by upgrading to black.  Other popular pedestal baths include the MTI Melinda or Linda.  These tubs come in multiple sizes including 60 inch, 66 inch, and 72 inch versions.

You will need to buy a drain separate from your stand alone tub.  You will also need a floor mount or wall mounted tub filler with supplies.  But knowing all of the information above one still has to ask the question, why are stand alone baths so popular?  Well it's a great alternative to a clawfoot bath, it allows for a nice open look for your bathroom remodel, and some of the designs are really cool and being manufactured from high quality acrylic, cast iron, or copper you can buy a tub to last a lifetime.
